First of all, by "best" I assume you mean the bet with the lowest house advantage (the smallest negative EVR.) Secondly, I assume you are not considering Casino Promotions (like match-play coupons), nor are you thinking of games of skill like card counting at Blackjack. The correct answer is that the odds bet in Craps has a zero house advantage, which makes it the best bet, except that it requires a line bet first. So the Don't Pass line bet with 100x odds has the lowest EVR (.021%) bet in the casino. Your initial answer above with 2X odds would only have an EVR of .61%, and the basic-strategy player at a double-deck Blackjack game has an EVR of about .4%, which is lower. Steve F.

I would be willing to bet that if the casino posted the exact EV for every game / bet offered, the distribution of players at the various games would be virtually unchanged. If you stand at the door and tell every person entering the casino that the "best" bet in the casino is to play craps with don't pass and odds, do you think they will all go line up at the craps table..NOT! My point is, I agree that many people in the casino are uninformed about the exavt EV of the games and bets, but that it wwouldn't make any significant difference in the way most peope play if they were informed. I assume you are simply referring to the house advantage, which is only one aspect, albeit an important one, of a bet or betting system. However, the difference between pass and don't pass is so small as to be negligible. The "perfect 1980" for pass shows a loss of 28 units, for don't pass 27. Cheers, Alan Shank
