Emily K.:
Hi.

I'm a student journalist at Arizona State U. I'm working on a story about young people and gambling- what the draw is, what is the scene like, is it a problem, et cetera. I'd like to speak with young people (preferably 18-21) who gamble and tell their stories. I need to find a couple of people from Arizona, but I'll talk to anyone. It isn't going to be a sob story about how gambling ruins lives, we've all heard those. If anyone is interested in doing this, please e-mail me at (Email Removed).

Thanks thanks, Emily K.

Suggestions:
1. Buy a Powerball ticket and a The Pick ticket (both). Use your favoritenumbers for each game (not quick picks). Watch each drawing on TV. Take note of your emotions while each number is being drawn. Write fast while they're still fresh. Don't editorialize be candid about yourself. Put your feelings firsthand into your article.
2. Stand alongside the line of folks who are buying Powerball tickets (not ThePick). Note the ones who appear to be in the age group you're focusing on. After they're outside in a public place, interview them. Find out what motivated them to play Powerball, and not to play the other game.
3. Don't do a 'lotteries are evil' piece. It's screed, fodder for Sundaysermons. Get into players' heads and hearts. Have fun.

Good luck with your article and future profession.

Joe

The young people in that group are the worst gamblers, at the California casinos, by far.

Hey Emily, don't pay attention to the rude comments on this board. Not all poker players are racists, masoginists, or morons. Many are very intelligent reasonable people. Poker players are often however aggressive and inconsiderate.

As one poker player to another.

Did you have to tell that! Emotion: wink

Catch the man 'ace full house' with a '4 of a kind'.

And then, kick him bad although you know he's down.

My sorta game, so, I agree also.

Best, gARY
