Beating the house?

When it comes to 'beating the house' we all (should) know that the odds are against us when it comes to the numbers game. People who make the mark will do so through a system of some sort.

Let's get one thing clear right now, there is no single all powerful system that works all the time. Even the classic roulette 'double up' system fails when there's a table limit.

Someone recently showed me a very interesting and well known method of leaning the odds on your side on the roulette tables by looking for certain patterns displayed by tired croupiers.

Unless you are really creative, the house will know your angle and react to it. They've seen it many times before and managed to stay in business.

Still, for those brief moments before the pit bosses come out and scupper our chances we can potentially have our moment...if the groundwork is done.

So, what's your casino game and what is *your* tip on the tables to tip those odds?

Hi Iain,

I've heard similar comments before about being able to judge the area that a roulette ball can land but I find it extremly hard to believe that there is any scientific eveidence that it is humanly possible. How can a croupier create an identicle spin. The chances are too improbable. I generally find casino players and croupiers are superstitious people and this does not help the theory at all.

Back to your question, my favourite casino game is Carribean Stud Poker. It has approximately a 5% house edge however there is some skill involved in the game - although not much.

My tip in this game is to play every hand that is AK and higher and to never change a card - even though it might be tempting to do so.

I don't know if this is a tried and tested method however I like playing blackjack and usually play 3-4 boxes at a table and I always play the last box 'killer box' too. My smallest bet is on the killer box (table minimum) and I try to use this box to protect my other hands by drawing if I really need to.
