Forecasting methodsThis is a discussion thread · 54 replies Joe: Hello to the group,I am fairly new to this, but now that I have accumulated lots of previous data from my state's pick 5 lotto game, and have my frequency distributions for different periods of time, I am wondering if anyone out there uses any type of forecasting tools (e.g. mathematical expectation, montecarlo simulation, markov, etc). If so, could you provide a link as to where the algorithms may be found? Or books, Or software. TIA, Joe

John Griffin: [nq:1]Hello to the group, I am fairly new to this, but now that I have accumulated lots of previous data ... so, could you provide a link as to where the algorithms may be found? Or books, Or software. TIA, Joe[/nq]There is one and only one algorithm that will increase your chance of winning a jackpot. Here it is. 1: Buy a ticket. Any ticket you don't already have. 2: Satisfied with your chance of winning? No: Out of money? No: Go to 1 Yes: Don't go to 1 Yes: Wait and see if you won. The success of this method relies on all combinations being equally likely to be drawn, and they are. Trying to predict lottery numbers is sorta like trying to herd five or six selected cats out of 52 through a hole in a fence with a big dog on the other side.

Jack Ricci: Joe,Please note... John's method is only one belief of many that applies to lotto play. You might consider using his game plan only as one ploy or strategy, along with many other ploys and strategies to increase your chances of having luck. Deciding to participate first, and then being at the right place, at the right time, with the right attitude and the right formula, whether by hook or by crook, will more than likely put odds in your favour to propel you forward in any of life's endeavours. It's probably best not to expend " all " of your available time and resources at trying to beat any lottery. Make sure you continue to show up for aerobics classes to keep you in shape. Please note...This is my opinion only. I am not ridiculing John Griffin's beliefs...I haven't won anything major either... LottoHackJack

Or books, Or software. TIA, Joe[/nq]As far as software goes - do a search on google for lotto software or lottery software most of the listing offer a free trail period so give them a go. Personally I don't think any system based on pure stats of any kind is going to get you any closer to a win than letting your cat select the numbers. Wheels offer something as they give you certain cover that you might not get just picking randomly - so that is the route I'd advise you to go. Another school of thought (one which i belong to) is that in any phyiscal system there are certain parameters that quite logically affect which balls get drawn e.g time of mixing etc. These may show up trends which you could look for.

Joe: Thank you, Jack. I guess I believe that, because it is a physical system (a rotating cage that spits out 5 numbered balls), certain trends will arise over a certain time period (yet to be determined for my particular game), and that by taking advantage of these trends, I will increase my chances of winning either a 3 or 4 number prize, or maybe even the jackpot. I realize that most mathematicians and applied physicists say that any ball has an equal chance of being drawn, but the evidence I am seeing does not support that.I am also seeing that even though a number may have been drawn many more times than expected over a long or short term, the 'batch' of 5 that comes up is not made up of all higher probability numbers. Some are out for 5, 10, even 20 drawings before they reappear. One number in my 5/35 game has been out 36 games already. And so I will continue my quest for a forecasting tool that will help me. Thank you for the advice, Joe

Besides, I don't know what kind of strategies they are using so you are probably right (about using pure stats, I mean). I cannot get into the software to see what exactly they are using to make forecasts. I do use wheels, but, the first thing we have to do is trap the right numbers . Then the wheel will help us to play them in a more efficient way. Even though I am a beginner to all this, I agree with your statement about physical systems. A physical system is subject to physical laws. That is the reason I believe these trends can be used to increase our odds of winning. I don't believe in luck. Joe

Nigel may have some UK data in this department. Do you have any local data John? gARY

Fullotto: Random numbers don't exist, men invent "random", lotto is predictable by many ways. Just find a good method and win the jackpot.
