It strikes me as unfair. What was the point of the column? Phil sets Toto up to overplay his hand against him. He does, it backfires, and now Phil berates Toto in his column. I learned nothing about poker other than Phil has an astonishing sense of entitlement when it comes to poker tournaments and he thinks Toto is a reckless player.

I read Phil's column too, and I said it had some merit as a rant. But from an intellectual point of view, do you think it's possible to win a major tournament without going all in and getting lucky by either holding onto an advantage or drawing out? I remember reading that when Chris Ferguson won the WSOP in 2000, there were a dozen instances when he was all-in in a pair vs. overcards situation and came out on top.

It should at least be logically consistent. He had two chances to bust Toto and folded. He didn't deserve to win. I suppose I wouldn't have had as strong a reaction as I did if he didn't mention Toto by name.

I didn't. He wanted to have the event filmed and I refused to play villian in his attempt to sell his book. He never came up with the money, and there was no longer any reason to waste my time. I'd still play him, but I'm not going to waste a lot of energy trying to "iron out the details".

To be honest, it's not always me playing them and when I do, I find it very difficult to take it seriously. I'm usually watching football on Sundays and often just give up on the tournaments out of boredome. I'm not proud of that, it's just the truth. When I play in the 100-200 gam though, I'm usually prepared to take the game seriously and my record there better than I would have expected.

How about because they've been very dishonest? Is that a good enough reason not to play there? Or have personal vendettas become the only reason anyone does anything anymore?
I skipped the WPT Aruba event because of UB's dishonesty, which they have never admitted and therefore never come close to rectifying. And I wouldn't dream of playing at their site, for the same reason.
