It never ceases to amaze me what people try to pass off as "Math". The numerical wizardry of Standard deviations and number pools and wheels for lottery systems are just cover for the fact that random is random. Your odds of winning the jackpot don't change based on what number you pick. All the wheels and pools methods look good and use numbers to sound good, but just muddy the fact that choosing a single number from the pool is just as unlikely to win as choosing any other single number. Some point to the fact that 1 2 3 4 5 6 has never been drawn, but ignore the fact that neither has 7 12 33 37 41 46 (or at least that arbitrarily-selected number results in no Google Hits). The human brain has evolved to seek out patterns. And the pools can point to so-called patterns, but short of an explanation as to why these patterns exist, they are merely chance patterns of the past, and not predictors of the future. They rely on the "law of averages" or some such theory of past results being an indicator that the future will not obey established probability. Or that the future will somehow balance past oddities. Probability is forward-looking only. If you go into a lottery system, go in expecting to lose, or hoping to get lucky. Because you can't engineer that success. (You also can't win if you never play... but neither can you lose.)
