Making a living out of PokerThis is a discussion thread · 7 replies Not many at all pokerpro. To start off with you would need a considerable starting bank to be able to handle a bad month or two. Excellent money management is vital and a serious amount of self-discipline is essential. There is so much pressure on players who go full-time. If you don't have a large bank then a bad month will really make you suffer. If I ever won a major tourney than i'd go full-time for medium stakes. Thanks for the advice guys - it's not something I've ever considered doing but it has always been a dream. I don't think it would be as much fun as many think as the pressure to suceed would be immense. Very few are able to go full-time - I would recommend finding a level that pays for you and sticking to it. There is no substitute to a pay check from your emplaoyer every month. Having said that, if you are a single man with no commitments and you feel you are ready for it, then go for it. Anonymous: I tried going full-time and had a good 6 months but then 2 bad months and I started paniking a bit. I used to be a decent player but the pressure of having to win made me change my game slightly and I became a little predictable. It really is not easy going full-time and I suggest not doing it if you have anyone depending on you ie: family and kids. Anonymous: Guess the best way would be the money you are betting should be counted as lost from the word go. that would give you the right mind set to make the right moves and play your best poker, Ultimatly going pro should be a slow evolution of accumilated wealth. This is just a thought Reality is we all would like to turn pro and live the hi life, however don't forget that the grass is always greener on the other side. maybe being a pro is ot that great once you are living in it.... cheers | Have a question?
