MoneyLA:
My usual tokes go like this:
after I roll a winner point, I will put the dealers on the passline for $10.

If Im rolling a lot of numbers without hitting the point, I will put the dealers for $26 or $27 across, but I control the bets. the dealers take the wins.
If I have a really long roll, I will press up the dealers on the numbers. A few times Ive gotten the dealers up to $135 across, and by that time the passline bet for the dealers were up to full odds.

However, thats with my own big wins... not the kind of money I throw around on a cold table.
cheers, alan

I always tip the dealers directly. * Kiss of Death* for me to make a dealer bet of any kind. I'd say 95 % of the time.

[nq:1]When I toke, the first one will be a 2 way hardway 6&8. If I have a good hand, I'll ... thought about simply handing it in. I don't bet the toke for the waitress, do I? Thanks for the insight.[/nq]

It doesn't matter "how" you tip the dealers...just as long as you tip! The dealers are there for the long haul..they expect to make the "expected" value from all bets placed for them! The avreage HA on all dealer tips is about 6%, that includes the props, and line bets, and the ocassional odds bet. So for every dollar bet for them, they know when all's said and done, they make about 94 cents on every dollar...not a bad deal when it ain't your money at risk!
Some players would appologize to us when their dealer bet lost..I just said, "Hey, we win about half of the bets made for us, not all of them, THANKS for the bet!", and we took care of those players, no matter the outcome of the dealer bets!
Get more enjoymet out of the game...tip your friendly dealer! Get more enjoyment from the game...tip the long legged cocktail waitress...sometimes with a bet for then too!

Mr. V:
Last weekend I gave the dealers a hand in when I cashed out; until then, I have toked via hard ways bets.
A hand i at the end of a session will only pay dividends if the crew remember me next time, or when they are figuring my theo for comps.

Next time, I think every time I buy in, I'll give them a couple bucks, up front, so they know right out of the chute to treat me right.

Waitresses at Diners never get their tip until you leave. Why should casino personnel be any more forgetful of you than a waitress?

{I'd tip the dice, but they're already rolling.}

Another basic strategy and Gamblers Handbook-quoting lemming who thinks he can teach the rest of us how to play. "Hey guys, the pass and two comes with full odds are the best bets in the house!"

[nq:1]..on the comeout roll. Just got back from 3 days in Shreveport..Was in a slot tournament at Sam's Town. I ... bet Odds WORK on the comeout roll. More often then not they either stayed up or won...I'm stickin' with it.[/nq]
Glad it worked out for you. But this is the very problem with come bets: by being always on, they essentially negate the advantage of your passline bet on the comeout. On the other hand, they do provide the lowest HA and some insurance from a point-seven. This is why I generally prefer place bets: better odds (4X) and no conflict with the passline. And personally, when I'm in the middle of a good roll, I'd rather not see any sevens, period, even if it's on the comeout.

ACDOC:
I do favor the use of Come bets with Odds at 5X Odds and better tables. At a table with 3,4,5X Odds; while the Come bets are still better overall than Place bets, you might definitely want to consider placing the 6&8 first, then coming through. It is a good way to help "pay" for the odds portion of your bet, and as your come bets hit a number, you can always take down your place bets and use them for odds to keep within your comfort zone. I will start with 3 numbers covered total when possible.

It is a matter of not having enough numbers covered to jump start your play. The come bet then serves as a nice hedge for your 6 & 8 place bets while you work up to the full 3 point molly. It is also great when you hit the place 6 or 8 with your come bet since you get a portion of your odds paid for.

One time I toked an additional $5 after I colored up and told the box to 'put it wherever you want'. He put it on the Hard-8, (the dealers seemed to agree that was a good idea). I think they ARE all about going for the big score, not just some near even chance to double it. They want the variance, not a small HA (at least this crew did).
I'm sure you can find lots of dealers that are superstitious and believe all sorts of nonsense about trends, etc., but there's a lot that know it's just a random game, as well.
However, at this same casino, I was doing well and the stick hustled me for a tip and told me to put $5 on the line. I was happy to do so and also put $5 odds on it as well. When I'm tipping mid-session this is usually my choice.
