Gary Carson: [nq:2]Even if she's right, a daughter who makes such a ... personal issues that pretty much overrides anything she might say.[/nq][nq:1]maybe she has personal issues, but does that mean she is lying[/nq] Not at all. But, I'm not going to pay attention to anything she says. Hell, maybe she's telling the truth but so is her Daddy, he just lied to her before. Personally, I beleive Ben Barnes, but that's mostly because it's something I've heard before, and it's consistent with what I know about Texas politics. Ben Barnes is exactly the guy who could have gotten Bush into the Guard. It's pretty clear somebody got him into the Guard. I don't see what difference it makes who it was. Beldin the Sorcerer: [nq:2]What a crock of ***. Maybe she's just honest.[/nq][nq:1]Maybe she's honest. But, she's not just honest. It's possible to be honest and just keep your mouth shut about your daddy.[/nq] A lie by omission is still a lie. Letting someone believe that which is untrue is a defacto lie. Part of the game in poker. Some people view it as unacceptable in life. My dad was an alchoholic. It's why I don't drink. Lying about it to make him look better to someone would be stupid. [nq:1]She has some very deep personal issues here.[/nq] Sounds like you would let your dad slander someone out of some misguided patriarchal loyalty.

Gary Carson: [nq:1]Sounds like you would let your dad slander someone out of some misguided patriarchal loyalty.[/nq]Who is Ben Barnes slandering? He never said Bush asked for help. He said a freind of the Bush family did. The only person Barnes is saying did anything wrong is Barnes. Gary Carson http://garycarson.com

JohnnyD: [nq:1]It's pretty clear somebody got him into the Guard. I don't see whatdifference it makes who it was.[/nq]Anybody around in those days knows that a lot of the "privileged" got in to the Guard, some with help, some not. I joined the Alabama National Guard in 1968. The way I got in was when a guy I knew said they had openings at oneof the local units and wanted to know if I wanted to go down with him to sign up. I was in risk of getting drafted and thought this would be a good alternative. I had no trouble getting in and didn't get any help. Although if my name was George Bush and had his father and grandfather, I think he could get in with no problem, without additional help. JohnnyD

Jeff Harper: That was one of your more inarticulate posts, pickle. It's also inaccurate. I didn't call anyone a liar. Not on this issue. And I've not been quick to make that statement about somebody. In my time on Usenet I've only called a couple people liars.

I'm saying it's not. Jeff Harper Tampa, FL

Jeff Harper: [nq:2]I don't know. I wasn't witness to what she said, ... Only the right-wing media seems tothink it is news worthy.[/nq][nq:1]I think the correct assessment is that the left-wing media is uninterested because it fails to forward their agenda. What ever happened to news outlets just reporting the news and letting us decide?[/nq] I think the correct assessment is that neither the left-wing nor the moderate mainstream media thinks it's newsworthy.
