I have several of the more popular books on Texas holdem, all of which include an array of charts reciting the probabilities of given events ... such as the probability of flopping an ace overcard to your pair of kings or the probability of filing an open ended straight on either the turn or river. My problem is that most all of these damn books recite different probabilities for the same identical events. Even more maddening, none of these resources tell how they arrived at their results. Sometimes, the variance is rather substantial. I've seen enough of this to come to the conclusion that I should be suspicious of these numbers and should do some computations of my own.

The problem is, I am not trained in mathematics and I have already told you all I know about computing probabilities. Could someone out there be kind enough to direct me to some source which would explain how to calculate given probabilities in layman terms? Thanks to all in advance.
