The International Association of Athletics Federations suspended seven Russian athletes, six of them involved in the Olympics for doping offences.

Why do they take drugs?

Because they know that they can't be the best in the world without them! A true sportsperson would never do such a thing. Anyone that fails a drugs test should be banned from sport for life. Period.
