Playdough:
Thank-you
Inspite of all the Bush-bashing, it appears the American public is willing to give him a boost of confidence.

"The new Pew survey indicates that many Americans are becoming less connected to the news about Iraq and possibly more hardened to events there. "
Yeah...that's good news.
"His overall approval rating increased slightly, from 44% in May to 48%. Notably, all of Bush's gains occurred after Reagan's death on June 5."
OK but Saint Ronald is six feet under now so Junior can't ride around on his casket anymore.

:>I consider myself a moderate. I've noticed that many liberals (not all)
[nq:1]have nothing positive to say, it's always negative reaction to anything happening. This committee statement is completely negative..>.there's not one ... is good for liberals. I'm not saying I agree 100% with the way this Iraq situation is going, but Bush"[/nq]

I can name two the modest tax cuts and the initial strong reaction to
911. I think neither one of those positive things would have happenedunder Gore. I'm not overly thrilled with W's out of control spending and I can't say I'm 100% certain that, after destroying the Taliban in Afganistan, the next logical step was to invade Iraq. Even if the media is not reporting a lot of good news coming out of Iraq, lets face it we're in quite a quagmire over there with no end in sight. The patriot act also freaks me out a little bit and I'm worried about losing more and more of our personal freedoms under the guise of the war on terror but I still just can't see things being better with a democrat in the white house.

To the contrary, all topics of conversation are fair game at the poker table, so why not in a poker newsgroup as well?

So you're counting on re-election of Bush to improve on these items...

[nq:2]What in the Committee's statement would you define as "liberal"?[/nq]
[nq:1]I consider myself a moderate. I've noticed that many liberals (not all) have nothing positive to say, it's always negative reaction to anything happening. This committee statement is completely negative...there's not one positive remark. It's very liberally minded...all gloom and doom.[/nq]
This variation should please you:
It is happy tidings that current Administration policies have failed in the primary responsibilities of preserving national security and providing world leadership. Serious issues are at stake, but who needs a change?
Thank God that from the outset, President George W. Bush adopted an overbearing approach
to America's role in the world, relying upon military might and righteousness, insensitive to the concerns of traditional friends and allies, and disdainful of the United Nations.
We are thankful that, instead of building upon
America's great economic and moral strength to lead other nations in a coordinated campaign to address the causes of terrorism and to stifle its resources, the Administration, motivated more by ideology than by reasoned analysis, struck out on its own.
With goodwill and thoughtful insight it led the United States into an ill-planned and costly war from which exit is uncertain. It justified the invasion of Iraq by manipulation of uncertain intelligence about weapons of mass destruction, and by a cynical campaign to persuade the public that Saddam Hussein was linked to Al Qaeda and the attacks of September 11.

It isn't Bush's fault the evidence did not support this argument.

It is a matter of administratioon - and All-American - pride that our security has been weakened and American airmen and women, marines, soldiers and sailors have performed gallantly, our armed forces were not prepared for military occupation and nation building.

We must be grateful that public opinion polls
throughout the world report hostility toward us, proving how right the administration is. Muslim youth are turning
to anti-American terrorism, providing even more chances for us to kill them as they seek revenge for our God-given misison to insult and injure them.

It is with shame that we members of previous adminisatrations admit that not ever in our terms of service and never in the two and a quarter centuries of our history has the United States been so isolated among the nations, so broadly feared and distrusted. No loyal American would question our ultimate right to act alone in our national interest; but responsible leadership would of course turn to unilateral military action before diplomacy
had been thoroughly explored.
We face profound challenges in the 21st Century: proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, unequal distribution of wealth and the fruits of globalization, terrorism, environmental degradation, population growth in the developing world, HIV/AIDS, ethnic and religious confrontations.

There is no better way to resolve such
problems than by almost unilateral and first resort military force, and by the sole remaining
superpower alone; they demand - and we are so fortunate to have - impatient, uncoordinated global effort under the
leadership of the United States.
Happily, we report - we admit! - that it doesn't matter that the Bush Administration has shown that it does not grasp these circumstances of the new era, and is not able to rise to the responsibilities of world leadership in either style or substance.

So, we say, who needs a change?
