Well, I signed up for ATLARGE today, called the Taj..and they told me that there are no rooms available Goldie, what should be my plan? Marsha said to call by Monday or Tuesday to see if anything had opened up. Do you think that they will open up more rooms for ATLARGE players, or should I look to book a room somewhere else? i played a stars mtt last night, and couldn't believe the insanity of my table :: felt like an all-in bet on every other hand here's one that came up where i folded and am not sure if it was a good fold :: i have 62o in the BB :: blinds are 50/100 :: i've got about 1500 in chips : mp limper :: sb limps :: i check (should i push in a big raise here?) : flop is 348 rainbow :: everybody checks (should i semi-bluff bet here?) : turn is my magic card 5 :: i make a pot sized bet and both call (thinking someone has a set) :: river paired board with another 3 :: i bet 400 :: mp folds :: sb reraises all-in (she has me covered) :: i tank for almost my entire clock then fold :: she shows a2o for a weaker straight :: is this an awful fold or a good one? :: i'd seen this kind of strong bet on the river a few times, and each time the player had a very big hand :: the paired board scared the *** out of me :: should it have? thanks for any help. mo charles RecGroups : the community-oriented newsreader : www.recgroups.com

Ok - not really a challenge - more for fun.  Anybody who posts here want to do a $4-$50 SNG at full tilt tonight at 10pm?  There is always enough tables and they fill up slow so we should be able to do this - even if its just a couple of us and strangers.   Then we can discuss the results afterwards.  I am fairly new to the board and I am an avg. player at best but have fun playing.  I am sure I will come in 9th or 10'th - but I will gain many lessons worth the price to play. I've been playing online for about a year now and I do OK at very low limits. .25/.50 Ring and $1 and $5 SNG. Last night: (2) $1 10 seated SNG - 1st place in one and 5th in the other. (1) $5 heads up - Winner. I consider myself tight/aggressive (doesn't everyone?). I have very limited live poker experience. One such experience was a business associates tourney with approx 60 people ($35 buy-in) about9 months ago. I finished 20th in that one. I had played with 3 of thepeople who ended up at the final table who were all drunk as skunks and loose as anything. I too had several drinks by the time I got busted out and probably called a lot more hands than I should have. I am playing in the same tourney again on Saturday. If I play my same tight game that I now play online against drunk/loose live players am I'm I looking at a similiar fate to last time (top third, but no money)? I do think I am a much better player than 9 months ago having played a lot more poker and read a couple more books. (Position, Position, Position being a new mantra since last time) Any suggestions on how to modify my game to maximize my advantage in this tourney? Thanks for your thoughts

I rarely play play-money games anymore, but occasionally like to relax and engage in what i'd consider poker drills, and play money is good for that... Wondering what people think; is there anything at ALL to be gained by practice on these tables? They don't behave like cash games... until you're into the late stages of a high stakes SnG maybe... Witht the higher stakes games, not any kid can jump in and go All-in every hand; because you have to have spent a lot of time winning, before you have a big enough roll to take part... this filters out some of the completely ridiculous play.. Wondering what others think; I remember IRC poker from way back in the days before web-based casinos, and there were actually stats kept, and a reasonably tough level of play.. C

Maybe I'm looking for a critique, maybe I'm venting... or maybe I'm just looking for someone to pat me on the freakin back and say "there there." Bear in mind that I'm not complaining nor do I think this was a bad beat. Preface: I'm playing in the $5-rebuy tourney on Poker Stars earlier today. Blinds were at 50/100 - just before the first break. I have about 8500 in chips, ranked about in the middle of the 600 or so players remaining. Player after me, jfishy (something like that) has about 11,000 and has been playing solid. Others at the table have 1000-3000 in chips. So I'm in the big blind with AQo. jfishy, on the button, bets 500 and everyone folds. I call. Flop comes 3AA, nothing suited. I check with my set of aces and jfishy leads with 1500. I put him on a big pair, like KK or QQ, and raise to 3000. He moves in and I call. He's got AKo. No miracle for me on the turn or river. I don't rebuy. Any comments? Part of me thinks I should have put him on AK...but my gut said pair. ekraig * kill-files, watch-lists, favorites, and more.. www.recgroups.com

I am going to build a poker table for Texas Hold 'Em, but am unsure which kind to make. Just curious on the opinions out there. We don't have a designated dealer, so that makes the octagon table look good. However, I would like to seat as many people as possible at the table, which makes the Oval look good. Any thoughts?

I was on Party the other day when I really realize HOW many games are going on and how many players are online at once. Its amazing how many players there are just on the party sites/skins alone. Its really cool how many people are playing poker...but it also made me wonder about Party Poker. What is it about Party that is so great? Is it simply the fact that there are so many players there and that's why its doing so well? Does it all come down to advertising, because Party was all over the Travel Channel like they owned it the past few years. Party's software is good, but I wouldn't say I'm blown away by it. What about all the smaller sites that exsist out there. There are probably a couple hundred places you can play online poker. What makes those smaller sites successful and what makes them fail? Deep Thoughts, Jack Handy Curious George.

GambleAB - You mentioned you had a story about shooting craps with TJ in AC on your blog. Did you ever post that story and if not can you do so. If you are wondering why in the hell I would think of this now, it was your suggestion of naming that kid seven. the next generation of web-newsreaders : [link]
