The only thing that gets under my skin is the haters of the world. I am only tolerant of intolerance ... well also most religous zealots but thye tend to be intolerant.
You could have chosen any of a hundred other pejorative "hater" characterizations" and I'd have reacted much the same. sexual preference, race, national origin, economic class, religion .. people who hate, and who use the language of hate, suck.
I'm moderately impressed that you know the capitol of Burkina Faso. Did you know the official language is French, it's about the size of Colorado and that its genetic, cultural and lingustic relationships are tied to the Sudan?
If you skipped the anti-human hatefulness, you could be a pretty funny guy. You may or not be an *** (I'd guess yes) but you're certainly not a moron.

PS I credited parts i snipped from others. The rest is me, although it's perfectly possible somebody earlier had the same thoughts by independent analysis. (Sort of like Cooke and Pascal!!) The nature of binary opposition is an old question, and I haven't seen either the bell curve or fractal metaphors before, though certainly it's possible somebody else used them.
[nq:1]Mr. Treesong, For a world renowned professional poker player you have very little feel for the game. Sure, you can ... a world renowned professional, no doubt you spotted this a mile away. Godspeed to you. Russ Bwana Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso[/nq]

STOP. Everything gets under your skin, dude.
You are the the least admirable human being I've seen here at RGP. I'm not saying that to be mean or win an argument, I really mean that. I think you have no concept of good and bad, right or wrong, true or false.

You are a lawyer and Roy is a cardshark/salesman from Las Vegas. You two couldn't possibly know right from wrong. You like stealing my catchphrases, here's one to take to the grave: ethics are for those who have no morals.
Now that I have your attention, would you please ask Mr. Cooke to answer these questions at his earliest convenience?
1. You claim to have played one million hands of B&M Poker. How manyscammers have you caught?

2. What are their names and descriptions, so honest people helping youhere can protect themselves while in Las Vegas?

3. Write a 250 word essay (get John to help with this one) on the currentstate of cheating at Bellagio.

4. You've been having 'information discussion groups' for years. Is thisnot dissimilar to implicit collusion, where you and the sharks meet once a week to discuss how to carve up the fish?

5. You accept cash from Planet Poker to shill for them, but also play onthe site for money, right? Google says you've been accused of looking at hand histories to get info on your opponents. Sort of like the 'information group meetings', right? You think this is on the square, or what?

6. Who have you busted cheating at Planet Poker? What are their names?
7. What are you, as a 'name', doing to keep the game clean? Are you justcashing in like a pig at the trough, or using your position to do something that makes sense?

Non-Russ.
You're what my mom calls a one-tune johnny, spouting the same old stuff over and over. Learn a new song already.
As noted on another thread: The anonymity of the screen creates a certain bravado in the weak.
It's easy to snipe hidden behind a keyboard and a nom de guerre.

So what did you think of Burkina Faso anyway?

Ed,
you were making a living at poker before most of these pups were born.(since the Civil War perhaps?) If they've lost your advice because of incivility (along with Doyle, and many, many, many others) then it is indeed the board's loss. Just because you CAN say anything you want ( good thing) doesn't mean you SHOULD.
How long since we first met? Sycuan? How are the cats? And save a little of the good stuff for me.

[nq:1]I read all the strategy posts in here, I learned a long time ago not torespond to any of them. ... by having anything to say in here and there is no reason to do so. I know how Roy feels.[/nq]

[nq:1]There used to be a lot of professional players posting in here and now there is none. Therefore, no name players in here anymore.[/nq]
That's what you think.

Howard Lederer seems to handle it pretty well. What's he got that the others don't?
Never mind, I already know.

a) a thick skin
b) financial independence: lots of time to winnow through the crap. c) patience
If your reference is to balls, imho either your standards are suspect or you don't know the history of some of these guys; many of who have overcome amazing odds to be the successes they are. Certainly the people sniping at them for the most part have done less with their lives and i'd guess had it easier in life.
In determining the truth of this, I'd consider the ratio of name players/working pros/spokesmen/etc. who have either left the site or visit infrequently to the ratio of those who stayed and post often.

I think it's just not an inviting environment to proffer poker advice, because of the rudeness. Why swim in what you call the "tumultuous waters" when there are numerous tropical lagoons available?

I could be wrong. But I don't think so.

If you're going to imitate me, please do a better job. I wouldn't articulate it that way. As my longtime admirer DoubtingT suggests, my ego mandates the use of three-dollar words. Of course, being himself, he didn't quite say it that way.

One of the funnier things you've said this year. I'm frantically busy at work this weekend, and have logged sixty hours editing a brief since Thursday morning, but this forced me to take a half-hour out of my day to clean a spray pattern of coca-cola from the face of my nice new 17" Dell monitor.
[nq:1]6) So he cut and pastes a bunch of philosphical stuff (some cultures call this ***) all as a ruse to steal my tag line at the end, thinking[/nq]
You may know the capital of Burkina Faso, but you're not so good on recent history. The indomitable Peg stole it first, though she did have the good grace to eventually give you credit.

[nq:1]Now the big risk in calling raises with these hands is the EP raiser will have better hand than that. If so What do you think of Caro's LX (Tight) strategy?[/nq]
Uh, TD...do you think you could start another thread for this discussion? Or change the title of this one next time you respond?

Thanks!
Peg
