I think an upset might be on the cards tonight in this match.

Sporting lost at the weekend and their opening match against Barca and have a few injury worries too. Basle lost at the weekend too however skybet's 13/2 (6.50) is too big to be ignored.

Cristiano Ronaldo is 7/1. That surely is a good e/w bet at 1/4 1-4.

He does have injury concerns but he'll definitely be in the top 4 so a value bet if you ask me.

Will be announced tomorrow. Most media channels are reporting that Keven Pietersen will be getting the job however I have my reservations.

If it were up to me, I would give it to Andrew Flintoff - even though he had a short but unsuccesful stint when MV was injured.

I like the idea of an all-rounder being captain as they have a great idea of both facets of the game and can easily spur other players on.

MV was a super England captain however he was never the same player as he was prior to be giving the role.

Let's hope he bounces back and can still retain a place in the side with lots of runs.

Sorry to say, but England's bowling in recent matches has been pathetic. I know the pitches at Lords and Headingly have given their bowlers no help at all but you have to expect a lot more against not the best betting unit in the world - SA. Bring back Hoggard and Harmison I say.

Sir Ian Botham has lashed out at pitches at Lord's and The Oval in the light of the drawn first Test.

In his column in the Daily Mirror Botham was highly critical of the domination of London, which has two Test venues, on touring itineraries. "Out of 25 Test matches since 2005, London has played host to 11 and the rest of the country has had 14. Of those 11 we have won just once, drawing nine and losing the other. Of the 14 games that have been allowed to be played elsewhere in the country, we have actually won 11 of those, drawn one and lost two. What is better for English cricket?"

"For me English cricket is about winning matches. If you continue to play on surfaces like this that are designed to last five days then you are going to kill the enthusiasm that exciting and result driven cricket creates.

Can Nadal win at wimbledon?

He just won on grass today in the wimbledon warm-up event. I know Federer wasn't there but beating Djokovic on grass means that he must have a brilliant chance of winning wimbledon. Any views?

Euro 2008 - predictions

Without England, who would have obviously??? walked Euro 2008, who do you think will end up winning the cup? Virtual pint on offer to whoever gets closest but I'm going to stick my neck out and say France.

They have the toughest group, with Italy and The Netherlands and Romania (who will be no walkovers) but I can see them squeezing through. France don't concede many goals and I can see this being a low-scoring tournament in general.

i'm not trying to sound too biased here but I honestly think the premier league is the best league in the world and about a third of their squad either play (or played - Henry!) in the premiership for one of the top 4 clubs.

At 9/1 best price but quite a lot of it available, you'll have a wonderful value bet on your hands if they survive the 'group of death'.

The other value bet is Sweden at 33/1 and slightly bigger on the exchanges. I can see their grit helping them advance with Spain in group D and again, huge value on offer.
