Depends on where you are looking for work, but you will find that each jurisdiction maintains a directory of the companies who are licensed under them.

Of course, there's also Ladbrokes who have an extensive online offering...but you knew *that* didn't you? ;)

In the first instance I would suggest speaking to a different person at each of these recruitment firms you mention.

Also, you could contact gaming firms directly with your CV and cut out the middle man!

I hear your frustrations as well though everyone has been friendly so far. I have eight years of customer relations and client/account management plus three years of marketing planning and execution in the direct and online marketing/optimizing world and no bits yet. Were I am located there are only 3 smaller firms that work in the industry so there is not a whole lot of opportunity to gather direct experience... I am with you orientallady especially if you have strong transferable skills and a willingness to continually grow.

well, I've tried betting jobs and pentasia and neither of them are very friendly people. I have over 25 years in the casino business and 3 1/2 years as a manager of ladbrokes betting jobs and even pentasia won't consider me. They have said that their online gaming companies prefer people with experience in the online gaming industry. Personally, I don't think it makes that much of a difference, as long as people are willing to learn which I am.

As long as you know how to use a computer, you should be fine for starting out. Which, seeing as you have posted here, you should be fine! ;)

The trick is to get your foot in the door. Once you have some experience, you'll easily find work.

Hi Iain,

I love all forms of gaming and have recently started playing Texas Hold'em too.

I have no IT skills etc but would definitely be interested starting in Customer Support or a similar role and then hopefully moving up after some time. I'll do as you recommended and contact bettingjobs and pentasia.

This all depends on which area of the sector you are looking for work in. Developers will need good programming skills. Java is arguably the main language used, Flash is also in demand. Then there are the database administrators (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL), systems admins (Linux, Solaris, Windows) and network/security people (all things IP). If you're looking at the front line of operations, you can join without too much knowledge as training will be provided, but you should understand the basics of the games! Affiliate managers are constantly in demand and you should have good marketing skills and be able to deal with people. Odds compilers also are also constantly being sought. The list goes on and on. Both BettingJobs.com and Pentasia can provide a list of positions available and the requirements for each role. It's always beneficial to register with them both so they have your details on file.

There are a wide range of opportunities available in igaming, but a degree is not necessary; good skills, a willingness to learn and above all a friendly personality are essential.
